Gulf Engine & Equipment, Inc was founded 1967 by Les Palmisano, Sr. The company grew modestly during the oil boom of the 70's and early 80's and developed a reputation for packaging quality offshore equipment. In 1982 the company was relocated to the present 16,000 sq. ft. facility in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

Gulf Engine has always been a family operated business, and in 2000, Les Palmisano, Jr. took over the business and oversees the design, fabrication and assembly of the Gulf-Tek equipment line including the engine distribution. Through the 90's, Gulf Engine acquired new product lines to support offshore customers and advance the company into the 21st century.

Gulf Engine & Equipment, Inc. is a Kubota engine distributor in the Gulf South that specializes in engine packaging for offshore applications. This equipment is marketed under the trade name of "Gulf-Tek". The equipment line includes pumps, generators, offshore light towers, diesel and electric pressure washers, hydraulic power units and compressors. Equipment can be assembled to meet explosion proof requirements. Bare engines can also be assembled for repower applications.

The Kubota diesel engine has been an important part of developing the equipment line. Engines range from 6 to 100 hp. All engines are "Tier 2 Emission Certified" and in 2008 will have "Tier 3 Certification". Kubota is committed to manufacturing engines that meet ongoing emission legislation. Gulf-Tek equipment is complete with all components necessary to meet offshore requirements. Equipment is packaged with heavy duty galvanized skid material, drip pan, center point lift, 4 corner lift, spark arrestors, air intake shutdown systems, CG approved fuel tanks and weatherproof engine controls. Air starters are optional.
